Full Moon in Capricorn
Almost immediately after the Solstice in the early hours of 22nd June at 2.07am (BST) we will experience a full moon on the Cancer / Capricorn axis with the sun in the early degrees of the astrological sign of Cancer and the moon in Capricorn.
This is an incredibly powerful full moon, occurring so close to the solstice point. It is also unusual in that it is the first of two full moons in Capricorn. The second will occur on 21st July with the sun and moon in the last degree of Cancer and Capricorn - this will be one of the most significant moons of the year, occurring at the same degree that Pluto will return to later in the year, bringing up unresolved issues. Pay attention to themes that arise now, as they may be amplified later.
We are encouraged to set our desires and make wishes at the time of a full moon, however this one comes with a degree of caution. There is a magical element at play, but the phrase ‘be careful what you wish for…’ is rather apt. Something we have been working towards for a very long time may come to pass but it could require us to pay a heavy emotional price. The energy of both Neptune and Pluto are joining the dialogue at this full-moon, creating what could be a sense of disillusionment or disappointment.
The energy is encouraging us to turn inward and reflect on both ourselves, our families and our home life. It’s always wise to pay attention to what comes up as it is usually a spotlight on something we may have been avoiding. As we move forward over the next few weeks an aspect of our lives may come into question for transformation. Which area of our life will depend on our own unique chart, however family and home are strong themes for everyone.
This painting captures the height and intensity of the sun at this time of year, together with the energy and colour of the Californian landscape where contemporary, Lebanese painter, Etel Adnan lived and work.
